BMW CSL E9 Car Restoration Completed restorations

The BMW CSL E9 that we have been commissioned to carry out work on is a lightweight, performance oriented version of the standard 3.0 CS and 3.0 CSI Coupe’s.
For those of you that don’t know CSL stands for Coupe Cport Lightweight.

These Rare classic CSL’s are sometimes referred to as the ‘Batmobile’. In addition to the standard front ventilation and rear spoiler, the 3.2Ltr CSL models could be fitted with a removable racing kit, these options could not be fitted at the factory due to a conflict with European laws at the time. Which is why they were supplied as the removable kit.

BMW developed 4 different versions of the 3.0 CSL over a span of 5 years.

Production number of this rare 1972 3.0 CSL are as follows. ONLY 500 ever produced by BMW and only a handful in Australia.

Alloy components on the CSL’s are the bonnet, boot lid and 2 doors. Fiber-glass rear bumper bar.

The body is of steel structure but even the gradient of steel is thinner than your normal E9 steel thickness.

For now we have been commissioned to carry out rust work to sill panels as its formed with a 3 panel sill structure, as the car has lived most of its life in the U.K (plenty of cars residing in UK are evidently very rust prone)

We don’t know what is going to unravel upon beginning the stripping and assessing process.

All Bodywork, Paintwork and suspension work carried out and client has picked up to carry out assembling process
