The Aston Martin DB4 first launched in October 1958. It was the first Aston Martin to carry the Superleggera bodywork, in which light aluminium panels were fixed to a steel framework made of light gauge tubes welded to a platform chassis.
The 3.7 litre, six cylinder power unit was the work of Tadek Marek and had first been seen at Le Mans the previous year the works DBR2 sports racer
As the Aston Martin DB4 was manufactured between 1958-1963 spanning five years, this example we are working on has been built in 1961 being a Series III.
Between the different Series’ over the 5 years subtle changes had been applied, to try to improve the car over time and obviously to gain the interest from the public when it came to marketing
The series III features were seperate rear tail lights, two bonnet stays and a range of improvements to the interior fittings.
